Now fitbit has deemed to go down the social media route (A big boo from me for that btw) I constantly get notification about people posting for the first time or posting after a while of not posting. How **ahem**ed frustrating! I am not a member of fitbit to see pictures of people's dinner etc, if I wanted that I'd be on Facebook. Having just bought a new ionic if I can't turn this off so I'm not constantly bombarded with rubbish, I'll gladly return the ionic and go back to Garmin

Sorry to hear they are bothering you with these, @LadyKatYoung. Have you edited your Community Profile -> My Subscriptions -> Notification Settings to change the settings from "Use Default" to something like "Never"? Or, maybe it would be easier to change brands.....

Hello Larry
Yes I have indeed changed my notification setting, it does not seem to include the normal feed on the app though in its options unfortunately...
You may be right and to change brand from fitbit to something else may be the only option, I cannot put up with dozens of notifications per hour just because someone on my friend list puts something into a feed

I am ok with getting the inital alert that a friend has posted on the community feed. However, Fitbit should give folks the option to opt out of community feed notifications all together or at least filtering out subsequent responses by others. I’d hate to think that my little posting is getting under the skin of folks on my friends list that don’t care to be that engaged with the app on an ongoing basis. I’d like my FBF’s to have options to be only as connected as they care to be. I don’t agree with Fitbit pushing the social part too heavily on folks. Some folks just want to stick to step challenges and that’s ok too because the DOING part is what is most important. On that note I’d appreciate even more if Fitbit would increase the number of participants per challenge so we can step and socialize within the group which is much more meaningful to getting those fitness results we are all seeking.

@MzP that is exactly my point of view also. I enjoy the challenges but I do not want to be permanently reminded that someone posts for the first time. Or when someone doesn't post for a while. There should be a choice for those of us not wanting to join another social media debacle to turn those notifications off and just continue with the fitbit app we have always used. O don't want to block all notifications and I like them about my challenges. I just don't want to be notified about posts... I don't think it's a lot to ask

@LadyKatYoung maybe you should post an idea re notification filters in the suggestion forum so folks can vote on it. Maybe it will get enough buzz about it to get some action 🙂

I have to agree. I got rid of my social media accounts such as FaceBook and it’s disappointing to have to put up with the same media garbage on FitBit. People don’t use social media probably and it ruins it for those who do use it for what it is intended for. An option to have it turned off would be most appreciated. Otherwise, I may have to discontinue my Fitbit account ☹️

Absolutely agree! Very turned off that #fitbit forces you to see strangers posts. Kudos for people to uplead their liftstyle & healthy posts but don’t we as users have the right to choose what we want to view?!
#fitbitisterrible for spamming users with strangers Fitbit posts. We should the option to view/notview public posts
Will probably delete the app and sell my Fitbit for Apple Watch if they don’t update this unauthorized #fitbitfeed

@Vyliao, you have full control of what posts you see, and which ones you don't. Fitbit is not forcing any posts on you. You can simply open any post you don't want to see replies to and click on Unsubscribe - you won't see anything about that post again. Additionally, when you reply to a post, you can uncheck the box that says you want to see replies to your post.

Talk about missing the point!!!

I am sorry, @LadyKatYoung. What point did I miss? @Vyliao was talking about unwanted notifications, and I addressed turning off notifications. Is that user being "forced" to see some notifications that cannot be turned off?

@USAF-Larry the whole post is about the whole 'blah blah has posted for the first time' or 'so and so has posted for the first time in a while' none of us want these notifications, none of us have asked to have them and none of us have any option to turn them off.
Yes you can turn notifications off for individual posts if you click on the option but what about everything else.
We didn't sign up to fitbit for it to turn into another tedious Facebook social Media platform.
I deleted the majority of the people on my friends list because of the continuous posts and now only have the ones who don't bombard me with posts
