Cardio Load Broken

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my pixel watch 3 and I feel like the cardio load displayed in the app can't be right for more cycling activities.

I've been given a target of around 150 based on my first week of activity. However the cardio load logged against my bike rides seems way too low. It's basically impossible to ever meet the target. I can only assume this is because it's reporting way too low of a number vs the one the target is based on.

Yesterday I took a one hour walk very low heart rate which got a score of 23. I also did a 2 hour bike ride all of which was in the vigorous heart rate zone. Yet that bike ride only gave me a score of 49. Barely double that of my walk despite being in a way higher heart rate zone.

I've been seeing this behaviour consistently with all my bike rides. It's impossible for me to meet my target cardio load when they score so low.  I feel like the cardio load score isn't taking into account heart rate at all.

Here's a screenshot of my activities yesterday to illustrate

@Weaseed I also have a Pixel Watch 3. I run outdoors and use the elliptical machine indoors for cardio. My Cardio Load is consistently in the 50s, no matter what I do. I don't have any particular insight into this, but I think it may need more time to calibrate. I'm going to keep doing what I do and see if the scores start making sense. That is what happened with the Readiness Score when it was first introduced and I'm thinking this may be similar.

Hello @Weaseed

Do you have your fitness target set to Maintain or Improve?

Brainstorming here: If you have it set to Improve, consider switching to Maintain for a few weeks. When the fitness target is set to Improve, I think the Cardio load target will be much higher to push you. If it's set to Maintain, I think the Cardio target will settle into something more reasonable. Then, change the target to Improve.

So far, I haven't seen what is the correlation between AZM and Cardio load. For example, today I have 29 AZM, but only 13 for Cardio load.

Like @alexthecat said, we'll just have to keep doing our regular routines and see if the scores eventually start making sense.
