Catfish - AKA scams

Today I got her a friend request from someone called Marion W. I note that Marion joined today, He has no history and no Statistics, but already he has 8 friends all women, and has joined every single group. How many more has he invited to be friends. I‘m sure that Marion is going to ask all those women into his heart and in turn ask them to take him into her bank account after describing heart touching disasters in his life. Such is the way of all CATFISHES. PS Marian has probably been here before under other names. Fitbit there must be some way you could stop these guys. Perhaps not permitting them to add friends or ask for friends without fitbit history.

Welcome to the Forums @FitFille.

Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone!

I can definitely see how this can be very frustrating. My suggestion in this case would be to block that user and get in touch with our support team about this.

Please do know that our team is aware of this and it is being looked into. Any further info that could be provided is useful and greatly appreciated.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

This is not a small problem. I joined on August 28 and by August 10 I had
received no less than 30 such requests none of them had a history or had
been members for more than a week .

Hello @FitFille.

At no point did I say or made it seem like a small problem. I mentioned that our team is looking into it and that any information we can get on this is very helpful.

Feel free to reach out with any further questions.

How do we block users?  I get this all the time with guys sending me messages trying to ask me out and it's frustrating.

Click on the profile picture or avatar. This will take you to their entire
profile. In the top on the right-hand corner you will see three little
dots. If you touch those dots on your phone or tablet, or click on them
with your mouse on a computer, a menu opens with a couple of options. One
of them is to block a user, and one of them is to report the user. FF

It's a private post.  He is messaging me directly outside of the community.

Okay, click ignore. According to a search I did in help, once you ignore
someone they can no longer contact you.

How about if somebody is blocked from joining any groups for the first 14 days after opening an account and then to join a group, they must have a registered fitbit.  FF

Hello @FitFille and @magicalstephie.

@FitFille Thanks for being around to help other users!

Thanks for that feedback. I have to say that the idea that you shared is certainly interesting. I will be sure to bring it up to team.

I'd also recommend posting that idea in our Feature Suggestions board so that other users can vote or comment on the idea to show their support. Be sure to read the FAQ if you have any questions on the way that board works.

If you do create the suggestion please post the link in here and that way other users in this thread can go and support the idea.

Feel free to let me know if there is anything that I can help you with.
