It seems that when you have more than one device capable of logging sleep, the display shows the least detailed (Surge reports show asleep/restless/awake, Charge 2 shows deep/light/REM/awake), even though the sleep is recorded with the more detailed device.

Hello @dude, thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community! In this case I don't believed your Surge is overwriting the sleep stages from your Fitbit Charge 2. Otherwise the only scenario where this could be possible, is if you are wearing your two trackers during the night and in a case like that, your Dashboard is going to give priority to your more detailed information.
My theory here is that your tracker is not reading your sleep stages at all. So take in consideration the following:
There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:
- If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
- If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
- If you slept for less than 3 hours.
- If your device’s battery is critically low.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have other questions.
