Welcome to the Forums @Lulay62.
Thanks for bringing this up. Congratulation on your new phone.
In this case, it could be happening because the Galaxy A70 is not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.
To clarify on what this means, as long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the setup.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Yeah, same here. A70 won't sync properly and update of Charge 2 keeps failing. A70 uses Bluetooth v5.0. Does that mean the Charge 2 is likely to be incompatible with my phone?

Thank you, but I have found a way round it, pair with something else.

Hi, what about issues with syncing my Fitbit charge 2 and the MFP app. I have a Samsung J7 and have always been able to sync both apps but the past 2 days it won't let me.
Thanks!

I have an A70 and a charge 2 and still no clear answer on how to get these devices to connect successfully. Very disappointed in the A70

It's actually Fitbits issue... Not the phone. They haven't added the Galaxy A70 phones to their supported device lists yet and won't commit to a timeframe. They have said the best thing to do is download the app to another device i.e another phone, ipad, tablet or computer.

That's why I raised this issue on Fitbits community and not Samsungs!
Yes I can connect to another device, but I need the phones onboard GPS to track journeys (ie. Connected GPS feature). I can hardly run around carrying a laptop, can I? And If I want to receive notifications on my Fitbit from my PHONE then it needs to be connected to my PHONE. Fitbit telling me to sync to another device is not helpful. I'm not replacing my phone.

It's September 13th and still no support for Samsung A70 😞

I have a new Samsung A70 won't pair with my charge 2. Last phone as well A8..when will Fitbit keep up with technology. I've wasted so much money on 3 fitbits that don't even sync to my phone.

They don't even bother to respond now. Utterly useless. Mine has failed to sync with my A70 since Monday, no idea what has changed.

Maybe you could try and see if earlier 2.x versions of the app sync with your phones.

Using an old version is a possible solution but that does involve turning off a security feature of your phone and allowing applications from a non trusted source.

@SunsetRunner
You can go to settings and disable it after you install the app, so that it won't allow applications from non trusted sources.
That simple.

That is fairly short sighted for devices not to be supported by newer phones. Certainly makes one consider moving to other fitness devices with less issues.
