Charge 3 will not pair to Samsung Galaxy S8

I am trying to set up my new Charge 3. I have been at this for maybe 2 hours now. 

 

When the fitbit app is about the pair with the Charge 3 it says that it has found the tracker but then does not connect to the device. 

 

I have followed the troubleshooting instructions on the website with no luck. Restarted multiple devices, apps, and connections. No luck. 

 

Please help. This ever so simple task is becoming extremely frustrating.

My first Fitbit is the only one I didn't have problems with. Charge 3 and
Versa 2 will not stay paired and the band on the Versa 2 causes rashes no
matter if the band is wet or dry but it's a fitness watch and should be
sweat proof.

I couldn't get the first one one to sync. I gave up. There was only so much I could take! I thought it was my phone. I spent hours and hours trying every combination to get it to pair using the fitbit app.

 

I took it back and got a replacement. Bingo the second sync'd first time - no worries.

 

I presume the first one was a faulty unit; the battery was also draining very quickly.
