Connected GPS on Samsung Galaxy S8 is failing

Any idea when the galaxy s8 will be supported for Connected GPS? Just replaced my fitbit (and phone), and now I can no longer track GPS on my Charge 2 when trying to use Connected GPS while tracking exercises (have only tested on Bike mode)

Hi there @AbominableFro, good to see you have joined the Fitbit Community! Galaxy S8 is now supported by the Fitbit app, however connected GPS is enabled by your tracker, so if you have a Charge 2 you are now able to use this feature. What is happening here is a fail in the communication between your tracker and the GPS of your phone, By any chance are you able to see an error on your tracker at the moment to use this feature?

Some of the errors you might see are the following:

Phone not found (dashed line)

Phone not found (crossed out)

Check Fitbit app

Regardless of the error you are seeingm in general the following steps should it help to address this issue:

  1. Open the Fitbit app to reestablish a connection with your tracker (Syncing).
  2. Reboot your mobile device.

You can also try to restart your tracker. For more details the following post will give you some extra helps: How to restart your Charge 2?.

Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

Hi, I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S8, and can't get GPS to work on my Charge 2 any more. I get a mixture of all three of the error messages you've listed, usually the one with the diagonal line. I've tried all combinations of restarting phone, restarting watch, turning off bluetooth, un-pairing, forgetting device. Nothing seems to work. It's very frustrating, the sync works, and I'm even receiving notifications now (this didn't work at first). Do you have any other suggestions for me to try? I really value this functionality.

Yes it was displaying phone not found crossed one. Like you suggested I re-synced the connection between gps and mobile and upon restarting the phone it started functioning properly once again. Thank you so much for the solution @RobertoME. Really appreciated 🙂

Hi there @HareeshReddy and @HeyPorter, let me give you both of you a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community! My apologies for being absent for a few days.

Happy to hear you find useful this thread and you were able to resolved this issue @HareeshReddy

In your case @HeyPorter, I'm wondering how it goes? Is the issue persisting? I was reading you have tried different solutions to resolved this issue to no avail. Make sure your phone can identify your location and can track your location when you're not using Wi-Fi. Also keep the Fitbit app open on your phone or running in the background. Do not force quit the Fitbit app or it is possible to lose connection.

Additionally, the environment you are in can affect the signal strength of GPS. For example, if you are running in an urban environment with many tall buildings.

I'm wondering if this is happening with other GPS exercises from your tracker?

See you later and keep me posted.
