Daily calorie estimate gone?

With the latest design update, I can't find the daily calorie estimate any more. This is different from the calorie target that shows up on the new dashboard. The "calorie estimate" is the amount of calories you have left to eat that day based on your plan. It changes throughout the day based on the time of day, activity/exercise, and foods logged. This has worked brilliantly for me over the past year and has been surprisingly accurate, helping to achieve and maintain long term goals. Is it hidden somewhere?

Hi, @kjvanmanen , in the new app there are two tiles that you need:  energy burned, which will simply tell you calories so far burned compared to your calorie goal, and the “Nutrition” tile, so make sure you have both (you can “customise on the opening, Today, screen to make sure you have both tiles).  Click on the Nutrition tile to log your foods.

To see where you are at any given moment compared to your “budget”.  Just scroll down past the recipes and you will find it there.

Update: I think I found it! It just looks so different it was hard to see. Thanks!

Thanks for looking into that. Unfortunately what appears to be missing is actually a different metric, that Fitbit called "calorie estimate". They have an explanation if you tap on the budget tile. I'm sure it's really difficult to understand unless you use it yourself, like a lot of the app features. I have already checked out what you suggested and customized, I see calories burned, budget, etc, and can do the subtraction, but what was cool about the estimate was it would change based on several different factors, including how many hours are left in the day. Budget seems to do that but it's not as useful. The estimate was really accurate and easy to use. Looks like Google Fitbit removed that feature with this update.

Same issue on iOS - missing calorie estimate on main screen

I've lost visibility on the calorie estimate, which as the op indicated, was a really beneficial tool for me also.
thus along with lack of battery health for charge 5 is disappointing

😕

I too have lost the ability to see Daily Calorie Estimate with IOS. Customer service tried to reassure me that no features were removed; however, they were unable to indicate where this information could now be located.

My calories are gone and so is my sleep. Both were really valuable to me.

@kjvanmanenand others -- please vote for and leave a comment on this request in the Product Feedback forum.  This information should be on the main page and you shouldn't have to go further into the app.

In case this helps, I am trying to add a screenshot of where I think the calorie estimate can be now found. I moved it to my main (Today) page. I'm using an Android, Pixel 6a phone,  and a Luxe.

On the nutrition card make sure food is turned on. Just below where it says calories is the old estimate. One thing I've noticed is this number doesn't always update. I've had to force stop the app a few times to get it to sync.

Ugh, I keep getting the message that my screenshot isn't permitted.

What “recipes”? I don’t have recipes despite following your directions. I’m at my wits ends with this change, tried everything.

I had the same experience - so mad. I spent so much time working with support doing everything they suggested and then they just stopped responding. So very disappointed with Fitbit after all these years of religious use and watch buying.

Hey kjvanmanen, I noticed the same issue. Really disappointing. They calories estimate was the best as it would factor in how many calories you've burned throughout the day. Now I have had to set two tiles on my main display, one for calories burned and one for food logging (calories in) and manually do the math! The old app also changed your recommended calorie intake depending on the weight you were at. I just tried playing with it and logging different weights and it appears that no longer works either. Hopefully soon they have a way to go back to the classic app. Haven't read anything good about this one!

This is so frustrating! It worked really well

I am really disappointed this feature was removed. I used it to help keep me on track when my goal was weight loss, and it was hugely beneficial to help inform decisions throughout the day. Now that I want to focus on losing again, the loss of this metric is pretty frustrating. Tonight I thought I was within budget, but it looks like I actually wasn't. I really don't want to do math and estimate what my total calorie burn for the day will be.

What other fitness trackers provide this info with a food plan/database?

I cant find a good one, calorie king and my fitness pal bit have the food options down of what one serving is, you then have to work out how many serves of the food you had. Way to hard compared to fitbit where you can choose to make everything in 100g then just put in how many grams you had.

I have no recipes in the Nutrition tab.

I don't look for Fitbit to give me recipes. I look forward it to track my activity, estimate my daily calorie burn, and by logging my food consumption estimate my calorie intake for the day.

Fitbit retained the option to include your weight goal, but why keep that if it's not going to go the extra obvious step, and provide users with real time feedback throughout the day what their remaining calorie budget is to achieve their goals?

Initially when I really decided I had to get a handle on my middle age weight gain, I was resistant to logging food. But it turns out calorie counting to maintain a weekly deficit actually worked for me. And I did a lot of guessing. I didn't really care that the doughnuts I picked up weekly at the farmers market weren't in the app. Just pick one and log it. And early on, it was helpful to see when I was WAY under my target and take a second helping at dinner because I know I needed to be properly fueled to build the physical strength I was looking to achieve.

It's disappointing this very useful feature is gone.
