Data from prior to switching to Google is gone

ANSWERED

I have been using Fitbit to log weight data for the past 10 years. I have been a premium user for the past several years. This morning my historical weight data from the years prior to switching to Google is gone. At the time I made the conversion all of my historical data successfully transferred to Google but it appears it no longer displays. Is there any way I can get My historical data back?

I'm using a Fitbit charge 5 and a pixel phone.

Hello @Jjserina

There has been an on-going issue on the Fitbit side that affects some users' ability to see historical data. The team is aware of the issue and has been working on fixing the problem.

It seems to me to be a syncing issue between the user data on the Fitbit servers and the Fitbit app. As best as I can tell, there isn't loss of user data, we're just not able to see it in the app.

At this point, there isn't any troubleshooting steps we can recommend since the issue is on the Fitbit side. If I see any updates on the fix, I'll report back.

@Jjserina I am using a Google Watch 3 and a Pixel 6 phone. A recent change caused things to look differently, and apparently, removed data from the phone. Through iterative selection of all-time and the tile for the oldest year, I have been able to load and see my historical data back to 2015. If I keep cycling through the clicks, I likely can see even further back. I need to select tiles to see small portions down to days in a month view. It is cumbersome, but useable.

I hope this helps and have a Terrific day!

Hello @Jjserina

Please let us know which version of the Fitbit app is on your phone/tablet. The current Android version is 4.30. To check, tap on your picture/icon in the upper right of the Today page. Then tap on Help from the drop down menu. The app version info will be on the page that opens.

According to a Moderator's post, there was supposed to be a fix for historical data in the recent update.

I agree!! All of my weight data appeared gone. I tried the back bottom on the 3 month period about 40x and did see data on the graphs (not all the graphs though). Now my all time graph has improved considerably showing things from 10 years ago. It is still not complete though. Also Fitbit appears to have removed the trend line?!?? Why?!?! I loved that line.

I'm on v4.30 with a Samsung S24 Ultra 5G and I have data only for the last 12 months but I've been tracking since about 2013 and used to see it all before migrating to Google. Would dearly love to have it back - even if I could get an export from Fitbit to keep outside the app but that's obviously far from ideal...

As an aside, my tracker (Surge) is not syncing distance properly either. Seem to be a few glitches with the move to Google...

@IainNash Hi. There are claims that the history still shows on the 3rd party web dashboard if you're interested in that? I haven't signed up. I'm still expecting a fix from Fitbit.

Thanks Mark,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm not sure which 3rd party website you are referring to but I'd rather
have FitBit/Google fix it too...
Cheers

@IainNash It's posted in this thread a few times. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Inspire-3/Dashboard/m-p/5693392#M12130

@TLeafTO Would probably be very helpful about it.

Thanks again Mark,

I've had a look from my phone and it doesn't seem to be optimised for
Android so I'll check from my laptop tomorrow.

@IainNash The dashboard that MarkMM is referring to was designed and is maintained by a fellow Fitbit user.  He set it up when Fitbit announced that they were removing the official Fitbit pc-based dashboard   It is very well done, and I think it is as good or better than the old Fitbit dashboard.

Thank you reagan! That did indeed fix the problem for me.

As for the trend line, I agree that they have removed a lot of features. I am very frustrated that they removed the website and made false claims of everything there being on the app when multiple features that I'd used there all the time were/are missing (customized meals, customizable data frames for looking at data, an interface that my elderly and visually impaired housemates could use). It shows me why we do need the anti-trust laws since Fitbit has continued to decline in quality ever since it was absorbed by Google that had its own line of products. I do appreciate Fitbit's compatibility with YouTube, however.

Are there any updates yet? I lost over ten years of data.

I needed to sync my Aria 2 again after switching to Google and I hope that step did not cause the data to be lost. Did everyone else need to re-sync their scales after making the switch?

Hello @Odgrant

There's an update to the Fitbit app that started rolling out last week. I've seen several users report that their historical data was restored after installing the update.

The updates tend to roll out in waves. Keep checking the Play Store and install the update when it's available to you.

Please let us know if you are still having issues with historical data after installing the update.

Mine seems better. I haven't looked to closely at it yet, but when I click on prior Months, days that were missing reappear.

Nope, nope, nope. Reinstalled the app and it is still gone.
