Me and a friend walk every Sunday, I know the walk is 5mile as I clocked it in my car. However fitbit charge 2 clocks it at 3.5mile why is this.

Hello @Cassie7, good to see you have joined to our Fitbit Community. The accuracy of distance will depend of how you are tracking your exercise. Normally your tracker calculate distance multiplying your step count, similar with running. This will not necessarily match a pre-measured distance, nor will it show exactly what a GPS device will show.
Now if you use any GPS feature like connected GPS or MobileRun, the distance will be calculate by the GPS of your phone.
Working with the GPS sensors in your phone, calculates distance, elevation, and pace for your walk, run, or hike. When the activity is done and you sync your tracker, you'll find all the data and a GPS map of your route in your exercise history.
If you wear your tracker while using MobileRun or connected GPS, the steps, active minutes, and calories burned that you see on your Fitbit dashboard come from the tracker. For more details see: Connected GPS Information Post and MobileRun & Your Device.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have additional questions.
