Distance tile shows target progress incorrect

Fitbit Sense

Android 10
Fitbit App fully up to date.

Problem : Distance target progress ring incorrect. With my target set to 5 miles the progress ring requires I walk 8 miles to achieve my goal.

The number of miles walked is displayed correctly but the progress against target is incorrect.

It seems the progress ring always applies the miles to kilometres conversion (8/5)x distance.

Even when I set the units to be km the same conversion is applied so a target of 8km isn't 'achieved' until I've actually walked 12.8km. My target has always been 5 miles. I have only ever changed it briefly while trying to diagnose and fix this issue.

I have tried changing the units to km, and back to miles, in the hope of getting the target progress ring to align with the actual target number but that did not work.

It's been like this for a VERY long time now. I first noticed it in July 2020. I can find threads here  reporting it going back to April 2020. What I can't find is a solution. The Fitbit response is basically 'we're aware of the problem'.

It's a minor thing but it's a regular irritation that needs to get fixed at some point.

Thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community, @appetite4.

Thanks for trying to resolve the issue with the distance target progress ring.

I would recommend changing the distance goal through the online Dashboard at fitbit.com. For instructions, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I set or change my other Fitbit goals?".

This affected me as well. It doesn't matter what I change the target to either in the app or on the dashboard it still thinks it is 8 (or perhaps 8.05) km in the circle on the main part of the app.

OK - an update - and I just hope fitbit aren't employed by NASA because if they are another probe might crash into Mars.

I'm using metric only on my fitbit. I would be quite happy if there was no imperial measurements, however I know that won't fly with some people

And the target daily distance is getting miles and km mixed up (hence the Mars quip above).

I think I know what is wrong.

On the fitbit the target distance seems to be stuck on about the value I set it too is too high. Over 9km. I have set it to 6.

On the app I have changed the distance to 6 km, then when you go into the historic data it shows it properly but on the main screen it shows it incorrectly (over 9).

So I go into the dashboard on the main computer and I set it to 6km. Looks good, however if I close the dashboard and then go back in, it is set to 9.66 km which looks weird until you realise that 6 miles is 9.66km.

In summary,  I changed the target daily distance to 6km and in some places this is correct, however in most places (and the important ones) it thinks this is 6 miles but it displays it in km.

Please sort this out.

I hope this made sense but it is really really really really annoying. Even more annoying that inflicting the mm/dd date format on the rest of the world.

I still have the issue. I've tried setting everything to miles in both the Android app and on the web dashboard. Didn't change the error on the progress ring  - 8/5 x target distance required for 'success'.

As Fitbit seem unable to fix this I have simply deselected the distance and associated progress ring from the today panel on the Android app so I no longer see the error every time I look at the app.

That shouldn't be necessary but three years after it was first reported I assume Fitbit have given up trying to fix it and now that's it as a 'feature' rather than a bug.
