Do the newer Fitbit devices allow user to turn off stepcount?

I have a Surge4 and it is basically useless. I am active but 50,000 steps before noon is embarrassing. They have been getting complaints for YEARS about this silly situation! I go biking a lot and would love to use the Fitbit to pass information to Weight Watchers.... WHAT A MESS! If I could only turn "steps" off it would make it USABLE...... otherwise it is simply garbage!

@riooso Welcome to the forums. Thanks for reaching out regarding the step count on Fitbit devices.

I would like to let you know that there is no such setting on any Fitbit device, that lets you turn off the step count. Fitbit devices use a 3-axis accelerometer to count your steps. This sensor also allows your device to determine the frequency, duration, intensity, and patterns of your movement. Note that the continuous movement of your arms will also result in steps counted.

Given that your device is logging too many steps, I recommend you take a look at the following articles:

Here you find plausible explanations for this situation.

Have a nice day!
