Find My Phone not working on Charge 6 -- a solution I think

Find My Phone had worked initially when I first tried my Fitbit Charge -- and then after a lot of troubleshooting trying to get it to download the latest firmware update, lots of reinstalling, then it didn't.

What got me to find the problem was a post in this thread, by @Rich_Laue , fifth reply I think, timestamp in June 2022 at 12:13 (not allowed to use the numeric date in here). He says:

Hold your finger on the Fitbit icon, then choose App Info.
> Tap App Notifications and make sure quiet mode is not enabled

This is no doubt right for the Android and Fitbit app version in 2022. For Android 15 and the latest Fitbit app, it's more like this:
> Hold your finger on the Fitbit icon on your phone screen, until a menu opens
> Notice a tiny 'i-circled' info button in the upper left area. Tap that.
> Now you get a rather long menu. Scroll to the bottom of it
> Under Advanced, Tap Alarms and Reminders
> Turn on Allow setting alarms and reminders.
> I would now go to the Fitbit App, bring it up, and then close its pane as you do from pulling up from the bottom of the phone screen, then pushing Fitbit upwards until it is gone. I don't think you have to force quit it, or as a better means for that, restart your phone, but restarting wouldn't hurt.

This immediately returned Find My Phone ability back on, loudly working. The hint is in the text of that Advanced | Alarms and Reminders item, where it says it allows alarms and time-scheduling actions.

The 'allows alarms' portion may include the Find My Phone sound, and/or the background tasks are needed to listen for the Bluetooth signal from the Charge 6 to set it off.

I'm hoping that the tasks part will finally allow my Charge to download the firmware update, as apparently that's done all or in large part during idle times, in the background. Background permission has long been set on the phone, but unless the app believes it is allowed to use it, as explained, the downloading task may not have been running.

So, I'll hope I'll soon find to have killed two birds with one stone. Perhaps I missed making this permission in the several-times interrupting process of initializing the band and the app, but it's also possible that it only gets set by first installation of the app, not after, in which case it's a rather subtle software bug.

Let's hope at least that this tip will help the several who have posted and not found answers for Find My PHone, at least 🙂

Hmm. We don't seem to be able to edit posts after the fact, and and I managed to leave out the link to @Rich_Laue 's original answer.

You can find the post here, and then go to the item by the timestamp mentioned above.
