Fitbit app affecting mobile device performance

Hello everyone,

In continuation to what has been - to say the least - a very disappointing experience since the day I bought my Ionic, the fitbit app has  now evolved into disabling me from using my phone in general.

About 2 weeks ago I noticed my phone has become very laggy that even making a call was a time-consuming chore. Two factory resets later of my phone (S9+, 128gb, 6gb) and installing app by app to find the culprit, I discovered it was the fitbit app.

Upon turning on notifications on the app, everything on the phone becomes laggy. Google maps navigation, for example, becomes obsolete. How do I rectify this horrendous bug you may ask? I remove the fitbit app! I literally have to choose between having a usable phone and this terrible fitbit product.

If anyone has any solutions to this problem please be my guest, as the support team has suggested basic "please restart your phone" type support to this moment.

And now with this latest software update 2 days ago, everytime I turn my ionic off, I have to factory reset back to life. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I did not pay this much money for myself to be a lab rat for what's supposed to be a flagship product that is very very badly made in terms of software.

Please help!

Hi @Mishoelsherif, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for all the troubleshooting steps you performed prior to posting, I totally understand how frustrating this situation can be for you. First, I'd like to appreciate all of the input that was shared in your post, we are always striving to improve the Fitbit experience with our products and services, therefore, the feedback that's shared here in the Community Forums is always helpful for us to evaluate our procedures.

Seems really odd that the Fitbit app is affecting your mobile device in such way, even more because of the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is a compatible device with our products and services, just as shown on this article. That being said, please try the following troubleshooting steps and let me know if you continue experiencing such difficulties:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  6. Login using your account credentials.
  7. Let me know if the issue persists.

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi, I've had the same issue since v3.9 of the Fitbit app and an Xperia XZ1.

If I downgrade to app version 3.8, everything is fine but with v3.9.1 or the latest, v3.11 phone is really laggy unless I force close the fitbit app.

The procedure below does not help, the only thing that helps is downgrading again to v3.8. Can you please investigate as it makes the phone unusable?
