Fitbit app crashes when Google Maps is running

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Every time I turn on Google Maps for directions, the Fitbit app crashes (multiple times). This, of course, creates an issue when driving in an unfamiliar place because an "App crashed" notification pops up in the middle of the screen obstructing the entire screen to where you can't see Maps.

It also seems to be crashing the notification service for Fitbit (I get an error when I go to the notification settings on the app for my watch) and it fails to start up again until I restart my phone. Please look into this Fitbit and put through a patch or something. My phone is a LG Stylo 4.

@cph015. It's good to see you here.

Thanks for sharing detailed information about the Fitbit app's behavior when using Google maps, as well for the steps tried on your own. While verifying your details I noticed that your LG Stylo 4 isn't part of the compatible devices list, meaning that the Fitbit app hasn't been optimized to work on this model. While there isn't a guarantee that it'll always work, let's try some troubleshooting steps together:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. On your phone's settings tap on Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Clear Cache.
  3. Go back one screen and tap on force stop.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app.
  5. Reboot your phone one more time.
  6. Make sure that both, the Fitbit app and Google Maps are allowed to run on the background.
  7. Open the Fitbit app, log in and monitor its behavior.

In regards to the notifications not working well, while it might be related to your phone's compatibility please attach a screenshot of the error message displayed. could you please provide me with a screenshot of the error message displayed? Also, if you've not done so give a try to the steps described in this help article.

Keep me posted.
