Fitbit app icon has a red dot

What does a red dot with numbers mean on the fitbit app icon.  How do I get rid of it?

But be careful, since the keep alive widget has been disabled I find that it loses GPS connection to my phone if I run with spotify streaming. I have found  i can run with music, or GPS but not both. I'm concluding I'll need a watch with gps built in in future.😊

On 06/04/2018 you said fitbit is aware of the problem  and working on  it.  This is November 2019 and the red dot with a "1" is still there.   I've  read all my notifications, why is this still happening?

This solved my problem. Go to notifications on your phone (not within the app) and clear your notifications (swipe down and hit clear).

Click on the inbox and then select notifications which is to the right of messages. Someone has most likely sent you a friend request. 👍
