Fitbit app not working on Motorola Moto Z2 Play

Android phone is a Moto Z2 Play running Android 8.0.0. Fitbit app 'keeps stopping' and can not be entered at all. The message keeps popping up with nothing being done by me. I have been forced to uninstall it so I can use the phone without these continuous pop ups. I presume it has been updated and initiated the problem. I have tried restarting the phone but that changes nothing. I guess I am now stuck with a non working App for some weeks based on previous experience with you?

I have now had time to start reloading it giving.time to do the pairing etc. However, it simply does not work. It displays a screen saying Fitbit for a while and then exits. Without the app the Charge 3 I have is not a lot of use. I have now installed it on my Huawei tablet and it works there. The Moto itself has not updated Android for some time so the trouble must be in the latest Fitbit app, how can I get the old one back?  Anyone else having these problems and/or know what Fitbit is doing?

Hi @JohnTWebb, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the details that were shared in your post, your effort and patience troubleshooting this situation prior to posting are appreciated. If you haven't already done so and because the issue is with the Fitbit app as itself, please try the following steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  6. Login using your account credentials.

Keep in mind that the Motorola Moto Z2 Play is not listed as a compatible device with our products and services, therefore, you can experience some connection difficulties with it and your Charge 3.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be around.

I have tried following that sequence of uninstall, reboot, install several
times. Also force stop, clear memory with various reboots. It still only
gives a startup screen and then disappears. However, it must be running in
the background as it is using battery.

As an aside, I experimented with loading the equivalent Samsung app which
gives all the appearance of working perfectly.

I sent another reply pointing out that Moto Z is on your approved list and is in fact not a unique phone but a family. The Moto web site makes it clear that included in that family is the Moto Z Play. Hence it is reasonable to assume Moto Z2 Play is indeed an approved phone.

I have had am email asking me to tick the answer that satisfies me. So far there has not been a satisfactory answer and the last point about Moto Z being a family including Z Plays has been ignored. A solution would be appreciated.
