Fitbit blaze auto sets my steps

I'm having trouble with my new fitbit blaze. The step count sets to a fixed figure and increments at leisure to another fixed figure.
If I walk 100 steps after midnight. It'll suddenly set my steps to 687 both on the app and blaze.
If I walk more, it increments but as soon as I sync it'll go back to that fixed figure.
This occurs throughout the day.
I have firmware 17.8.200.3.
Please help?
