Fitbit not syncing with device - tried all of the troubleshooting

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I ordered a replacement Charge 3 and just received it this week. It downloaded the new update, and worked for a whilye day before it stopped syncing with the app. In fact, the app doesn't even see the device anymore.

I have a Pixel 2, and it is updated to the latest OS available. My Fitbit app is fully updated. I have also gone through the troubleshooting steps laid out in the Fitbit article "Why won't my Fitbit sync", and I've read the article about having an Android device. The background activity is turned on, and the app is not using battery optimization.

This is obviously not a problem with my phone, but with the device or app themselves. There are too many people experiencing this problem for it to be occurring on an individual basis. I truly value the data I get from my Charge 3, but am consistently disappointed by Fitbit support. If you can't offer a better solution than, "read this generic article about something you've already tried", I'm going to look into switching to a different tracking service.

Ditto - Still not syncing. Tried all the troubleshooting tips, I even backleveled the app - nothing. Last successful sync was Monday at 9:30pm EDT.

I'm having the same issue on my Pixel 3XL

Same problem with a Samsung Tab A.  Worked fine for months until the update of Sept 30.  Now will not sync, even after trying all recommended solutions.

I'm having the same issue. Ever since the last update, it can't even find my fit bit. Won't sync, last sync was Oct 5th. I've tried everything, still doesn't work.

Which phone do you have and which versions of the app did you try ?

I was able to get it working by opening the app details on Android and
clearing the cache and data from the FitBit app.

Samsung Galaxy S7

Android 8

Tried Fitbit app versions 3.6.1 and 3.7

Since neither app versions work, there is a different problem. I tried a new device setup and it finds the fitbit but can't establish a connection - just spins and spins. Another post indicated fitbit.com was down recently and that seems to line-up with the timing of this problem.

I can still add food on the app and it shows on the fitbit.com dashboard.

Cleared the cache and deleted the data as suggested - still doesn't work. The device is found but then it spins while "connecting". Given I can interact with fitbit.com, it appears the device handshake works but the sync won't - almost like it needs a different connection to sync data.

Just an update - it starts syncing again after I restart my phone, but after a few hours it disconnects, and will not sync until I restart my phone again. This is super inconvenient, and I would like an answer ASAP

My Alta HR won't sync with my Pixel 2 XL and hasn't for several weeks-months, unless I switch into and out of airplane mode. I was hoping upgrading to android 10 would help (as per a Fitbit help article), but it didn't. Battery isn't optimized, etc per other help articles.

I have issues with my Bose sleepbuds staying connected overnight and being found the next night without switching into and out of airplane mode, so I'm not sure if this is a Fitbit or Pixel issue.

Anyone else have similar issues?
