I have done all the steps illustrated in previous posts. I can get it to sync after restarting it in the charger, with the paperclip method. It works, then it stops and won't count and add steps unless I restart it in the charger again.

Same with my MotoX. Stopped syncing about 3 or 4 days ago.
Now Bluetooth says Flex is rejecting the request. Nothing I can find on Help on how to reset the Bluetooth on the Flex.
I still think it's something to do with the updates they've done. Has happened in the past.
