Food Tracking

Hi, I have a question about the food tracking, I tried to search but there's a lot of info and could not find information related to what I was asking (though I'm sure it's there), so sorry if this has been asked but:

I am confused how the app tells me I'm under budget while over budget at the same time. I took a screenshot so I wouldn't have to type this out, lol, but I guess you can't add it, unless maybe it's just because I'm mobile.

Now, hear me out, yesterday for example I had 1,560 calories in - 2,233 calories out. So I had a deficit of 673 calories. I'm on the medium plan so I have a calorie deficit of 500, so of course the app says I'm under budget. Below this it says 167 calories over your budget.

So the question is, is this an error, or is it trying to tell me I'm doing something wrong? Because it's rather confusing to be over budget and under budget at the same time.

If it's trying to say something different, maybe this could be changed or explained better in the app? Is there something I need to adjust on the Fitbit dashboard? Etc... Any help is appreciated.

@Treece Thanks for stopping by! That's a very good question. The thing is that your In vs Out gauge is a real-time calculation of your calorie deficit and shows whether you're in the goal zone set by your Food Plan. This means that your plan's deficit is being pro-rated over the entire day. (here's when having your plan set in Sedentary comes in handy). Now, it differs from your Daily Calorie Estimate tile because the latter is an estimate of your total calories for the day (including BMR, activities, history, deficit and type of plan) and the In vs Out gauge is counting up to that time of the day.

For  more info on your Food Plan, check out these posts by @SebringDon. It's got a lot of useful info!

Hope this helps and keep me posted if you have further inquiries, I'll be around!
