Galaxy 8 updated its OS, now texts don't come thru

About a month ago my phone went thru a system upgrade. Ever since then text messages don't come thru and when I get a call it is just random numbers that don't match who is calling. I tried looking for a similar issue to try and troubleshoot, but had no luck. Any suggestions?
