Reproduce:
- Enable UniFi Gateway Ad Blocking following these instructions. https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/9794438523799-UniFi-Gateway-Ad-Blocking
- Wait a few minutes.
- Open the FitBit Android App.
- Open the device settings by tapping the battery percentage in the top left.
- Open the device by tapping it. In my case "Charge 6".
- Open Gallery by tapping "Gallery"
- Observe error "Oops, looks like there's no Internet connection".
- Disable UniFi Gateway Ad Blocking
- Wait a few minutes. Close and open FitBit app.
- Navigate to and open Gallery again.
- Observe the Gallery now works.
Other workaround:
- Enable Google Fi VPN using the Google Fi Android app. This is under "Privacy & Security" and the option/setting is called "Protect your online activity". The reason this works is because the VPN is able to bypass most (if not all) of the security filtering of the UniFi Gateway.
- A second workaround might be to disable your Wi-Fi on your device, and use your mobile data while you access the Gallery.
If you are having a similar issue it is most likely some type of DNS or other content filtering configured on your machine/device/network. These include Ad Blocker plugins/extensions/apps or DNS providers like OpenDNS/Pi-Hole. It would be anything that would block certain content. Others have identified this most likely being certain Analytics/Telemetry collection being blocked causes the failure.
