Google Map Display

When I go for a walk with GPS turned on I get a map of the path I walked. It used to show up to scale when I would share or post. A few days ago it began to show up as a world map.

Any idea how to get this back to a scaled display?

The one that has a realistic scale is when I first view it and the 2nd one show how it changes to a pinpoint on a world map.
