My heart rate monitor is lately showing inaccurate results.  As l am typing l am resting but it shows a bpm of 160.  I tried restarting, resetting factory settings but the problem still persists.

Hi @Lindelwa, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which Fitbit device are you using? Let me share with you that heart rate reading varies depending on several factors like movement, temperature, humidity, stress level, physical body position, caffeine intake, and medication. If you haven't already done so, please review our information and tips for heart rate accuracy here.

Though we've found that PurePulse provides better overall heart rate tracking than cardio machines or chest straps since it tracks your heart rate day and night, wrist placement during certain vigorous exercise is important. Review the information on optimal wear closely and make sure you follow the recommendations.

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Good day

I have followed all the recommendations under "How do l track my heart rate
for my fitbit device" particularly where it advises on how to improve
accuracy of my heart rate reading but still it does not work.

My heartrate monitor has been working just fine for months ang it suddenly
shows abnormally high bpm all of a sudden. I have just woken up now and
the bpm is 190bpm, which is impossible.

  • I am having the same problem with my Fitbit Versa. I started a day ago. Until then it worked perfectly fine. Now I am getting a resting heart rate around 100 and 160-180 when walking which is just impossible. I even controlled my heart rate manually by setting the timer to 1 min and counting my  pulse and it was much less than displayed. Also, when removed and on charger it still displays a pulse continuously. My device is still under guarantee, do I have to contact the seller?

I would contact Fitbit support first and let them direct you. I'm glad you are still under warranty, many of us with this issue are not. Best wishes!

Thank you. Will do. I did the factory reset, it seemed that it solved the problem but now it’s back again...

I’m having the same problem and Fitbit keeps telling me how to use it best to track my heart rate but I’ve been using them for 5 years without a problem. They’re supposed to contact me via email about the issue but it’s now been three days that My heart rate is supposedly at 150+ for hours and hours, even when I’m sleeping and I’m burning more then 5k calories a day. Super bummed - I’ve been a big fan for years and prefer it to the Apple Watch but the support on this issue sucks. I’ve restarted and done factory resets and reinstalled the app multiple times to no avail.

PS it did work for a bit today normally but then it went right back to the crazy heart rate.

My has worked since July 8th. Not sure why, but it continues to track my heart rate correctly. We will see how long it will last!

Was there something that ended up working for you as a fix? I’ve tried most everything but I’m willing to try it all again. Didn’t realize how much I rely upon it until it stopped working. 😭

Nothing worked. My Fitbit is dead now until today.

Hi Everyone,

You may have seen that I have posted the same problem back in June. After I exhausted all troubleshooting options such as restarting the watch, updating firmware by removing my Versa from the app and adding it again I contacted customer services here via chat. I got to an operator in a shortwhile and he asked me various questions about troubleshooting I had tried. In the end he checked the heart rate data, asked me if I was sitting at the moment and then diagnosed the failure of the sensor of the watch. As the watch was still under warranty, I was sent a replacement which I received in a few days time. I was highly satisfied with the service but without warranty I would have been in trouble…

I’m definitely still under warrantee (I’ve had my Versa 2 for less than a year) and it does sound like we have the same problem but my chat just kicked me up to an email issue - said they couldn’t help me over chat and now I still haven’t heard from Fitbit. Formerly was a big fan and have had great experiences in the past with customer service on my earlier models. This has just been a huge disappointment.

I came here looking for the very thing you wrote about. My HR had always been normal then all the sudden I see it’s at 188 while I’m doing nothing all the while feeling no different. I’ve lost 4 nights sleep wondering if i have a heart attack on the horizon. I’m 34. I just had an echo done a month ago that proved my heart was healthy with no issues but this has me SCARED

It’s not you! Your Fitbit is just broken and they should send you a replacement. : )

Acturally, I've tried and tried..., weeks and months. Now my FITBIT VERSA is dead, and my heart is broken.

They sent me a new one but I switched to Huawei any way. Loved Fitbit for years but I don’t like their new active points and it took forever for them to address my hr monitor issues.
