Fitbit Update: 7/23

Hello everyone!

We are aware of an issue that is currently preventing our Huawei users to receive notifications on their watches/trackers from their mobile phones, and encountering the error message "Notification service is not running."

We apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We will update this thread as soon as we have more details on this fix, and appreciate your patience in the meantime.

You can confirm the steps to set up notifications and check troubleshooting instructions at How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

Hello, I seem to be having issues with my versa. I constantly get a red message saying that I need to restart my phone in order for noticaftions to work. I have tried everything to fix this and nothing is working. Sometimes it'll work for a day than it'll screw up again sometimes only an hour. I have a Huawei p30 pro. Running android version 10. And I have the Fitbit versa.

Hi @Munchkkn, welcome to the Community Forums!

I appreciate the details that were shared in your post. To resolve this situation, please make sure that the power management is disable for the Fitbit app. Then, I recommend you to check: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device? to see that all the necessary requirements to receive notifications on your Fitbit and Huawei P30 Pro are correctly configured and also, to try some troubleshooting steps.

Let me know if the issue persists and if you have any additional questions.

I've been getting this the past couple of months. The only option for me is to delete the app then reinstall it. I'm having to do this almost daily. I have a hauwei phone, not sure if it's that or an issue with the app. Its very frustrating

Good morning,

I have followed all the above steps and I am still not receiving notifications to my versa 2. I am however receiving phone call notifications. Will someone please contact me to rectify this? I am. Using a huawei p30 pro. Thanks, Georgie

Iam having issues with notifications. I literally have to uninstall the app and install again every single day to have them running. Otherwise, I get a funny message in the app saying that need to restart my Huawei.

Another issue with my ionic is that it's stopped receiving any notifications via my phone. I used to get texts and calls but now nothing.

Has fitbit got an issue with huawei?

Has support and/or compatibility with/for huawei devices?

I've been a long time user and supporter of fitbit, but my patience and loyalty is wearing thin now.

My 'smartwatch' which used to synch my fitness data, monitor my calls and messages and help me with my fitness goals has been relegated to a 'dumbwatch' with a strap which keeps splitting and doesn't do much more than a casino watch I had over 30 years ago!

Come on fitbit, give me an answer for a change!

@Tommo_N It's nice to see you on the Community.

Thanks for getting in touch about this. I see where you're coming from.

The Fitbit app will work on your phone as long as you have a compatible operating system which for Android is OS 7.0 or higher. Since you mentioned that you're experiencing issues with your notifications, please try this troubleshooting

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Silvia,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I've checked all my settings and am currently running version 10.0.0.193 (C431E8R2P7 patch 01) of Android OS.

I've tried all of the options under the troubleshooting link you provided but still no joy.

I've restarted my Ionic, force stopped the app, reinstalled the app, played with all the settings but every time i get to the notifications section of the app there is a red banner message which says:

Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker.

I've lost count of how many restarts ive done but the message remains and I still cant get any notifications.

I recently purchase the Huawei P30 Lite and have a Fitbit Charge 3, however receiving regular issues with sync and notifications ("Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker).

I've followed the recommended steps of clearing the cache, uninstalling the app, restarting both my phone and Charge 3, installing the app again and for a temporary few days it works.

I've also reset my Huawei on a number of occasions and to my dismay it still does not work.

Eventhough the Huawei P30 Lite is listed as compatible, I still wonder why this does not work. Fitbit community/moderators, please help as I am stuck and rely heavily on my Fitbit for health, heart monitoring and sleep quality.

Looking forward to someone's response and appreciate the help.

Why has it taken 8 months for this message to be posted? There has been a post from mid November created by Keetje exactly about the syncing problems, that topic has been going on and on about how the phone does not work with Huawei phones, yet you have only just posted this a few weeks ago?

My advice to everyone:

Want a watch that records your fitness and desire decent customer support? Try a different product. you will not get it from this company or the forum moderators.
