We are aware of an issue that is currently preventing our Huawei users to receive notifications on their watches/trackers from their mobile phones, and encountering the error message "Notification service is not running."
We apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We will update this thread as soon as we have more details on this fix, and appreciate your patience in the meantime.
You can confirm the steps to set up notifications and check troubleshooting instructions at How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

jsnowden, I would like to sincerely thank you for putting this information up. I have spent quite a bit of time on different occasions starting last March trying to sort this out. Your post has sorted out my problem perfectly. I wish fitbit could have put this information on their site. Thank you again, you're definitely on Santa's good list😁

Hi all
Just bought Versa 2 around 1 month ago using with P30 Lite. Same problem.
Not found a 100% solution, just a parcial one:
- Remove Fitbit app from battery optimization (just changed to manual usage).
- Pin Up Fitbit app. To do this, just open app, back to android desktop, push android multi-app button and when android shows all open apps, search Fitbit app and slide up to get a "padlock" near app name, this prevents app to be closed.
EVEN WITH THIS I GET LOSE notificacions from time to time, so I have to close fitbit app, disconnet bluetooth in the phone, wait 1 min, connect bluetooth again, open fitbitt app, slide up app, and then enter fitbitt app and sincronyce.
Not sure why FITBIT doesn't fix this.
I suggest Fitbit guys to add VERSA 2 some warning if smartwatch doesn't sync in 1 hour i.e. (could be 1h, 2h, 8h, etc), it will be nice as you can manually re-start app until they finish fix real problem.

Try this
Go to settings, apps, fitbit, storage, clear data and clear cache.
Then, go to settings, battery and disable both Power saving mode and Ultra power saving mode. Click App Launch (still in battery settings), then find the fitbit app to disable the manage automatically setting. Make sure auto-launch, secondary launch, and run in background are all enabled and click OK.

How about, instead of going through all that hassle just for it to temporarily work, the developers for this dreadful company pull their fingers out and actually make the app do what it is meant to do.
For over a year Fitbit has been Unfit for use with Hauwei phones and they have made no effort at all to resolve this issue.
I suspect either the moderators on here are not feeding the issues back to the developers or the developers are un-qualified enough to fix the issue. Let's be honest here, it took the moderators over half a year to even acknowledge the issue, another half a year later they have been completely silent.

Yeah, already made this (battery settings).
Thanks for your help.

Myself and my partner have had this issue with our HUAWEI phones since October still not working even with Android instructions to fix,so an update today would be appreciated or a refund for 2 x fitbits so we can move to a brand that works and indeed cares about its customers and their welfare.

They haven't given a false update since July so don't get your hopes up.
Ticks me off that they still advertise that their products work on all android devices so I'm going to report them.

Is there any update in this?
I'm getting no notifications at all, and never have on my charge 4, even following all the resets clear cache and battery settings, even the test notification call does nothing but I don't have the restart for receive notifications alert many others are reporting.
I'm also not getting any reminders to move, it's basically a very expensive digital watch, as none of the functionality works, I'm wondering if my fitbit is defective, it hasnt worked properly from out of the box 2 weeks ago, can you please advise before I return, and switch manufacturer.

My advise it to return it personally, there has been no progress on a fix for this in over over a year. Mine is sat somewhere gathering dust as if i just wanted to know the time I can just look at my phone. If i want a step counter, i can just look at my phone.
Sleep cycle, movement reminders etc... can't get any of that as it just doesn't work as nobody at Fitbit is doing anything about it. I'd refund my device if i could, but i'm a year too late sadly.

I see now this has been going on since July, I am still trying to get mine working. A customer agent however decided that it is my responsibility to keep checking in with you guys to see when this is fixed.. they acted like it had just been brought to their attention and was a new issue... if it hasn’t been fixed in 6 months how much longer will it take?also they ended the chat when I asked for the complaints process... extremely unprofessional!

It's crazy.. For such a huge company, you would think that they would have at least one developer on the team who would be able to figure out what the issue is.. Although companies like this really don't care..

Mine is being returned this week, I've given them a month, I'll find another brand that works.
Fitbit was brilliant 2 years ago, I don't understand what happened, but they don't care anymore

If you have huawei/honor there is an app, just search "versa sync" in Google Play.
I have not tried it, at this moment watch is working well, I will try next time I lose connection.

I think the whole point is, you shouldn't need additional software for it to work, it should just work.If this company actually cared, and they obviously don't, they would have got a developer to fix this a year ago.
They still advertise that it works for all android phones, which is a lie. Happily i've reported them to the marketing ombudsman in my country to highlight their adverts are illegal, which is being pased to the European board 🙂

Go get the refund, problem has been around since before november 2019, still no fix for it. Fitbit just doesn't care.
