If 'All Day Sync' is off, do you lose data?

I've had issues with my fitbit Surge draining battery quickly and I'm looking to try some solutions that the community has suggested.

Among those suggestions send to be the "turn off all day sync" option.

I'd like to understand how the "All day sync" works, and what the repercussions are of turning it off. Will I lose data? What if I don't turn on the app for more than a day?

I don't understand how it works so naturally I'm concerned about turning it off. I figured these activity trackers required that option to be on in order to function properly and calculate stuff like your sleep, activity, calories etc.

Thanks for any reply

HOW OFTEN DOES MY TRACKER NEED TO SYNC?

A daily sync is recommended but not required. All Fitbit trackers can record detailed minute-by-minute data for seven days, so if you're able to sync weekly your complete minute-by-minute-data will be available. For trackers that monitor heart rate, heart rate data is stored at one-second intervals during run or exercise tracking and at five-second intervals at all other times. Daily totals are stored for 30 days, so if you're only able to sync monthly you can still see your daily totals on your dashboard.

Fitbit Surge can store a maximum of 35 hours of GPS data. If you try to track more than 35 hours worth of GPS data without syncing, older data will be deleted to make room for new data. To ensure that all your GPS data is saved, sync your Surge regularly.

The only thing that it didn't hit on was the sleep portion, however it did speak to storing days so I'll assume that means sleep days as well. Thanks.

@ddn1981 Your assumption is correct. Your sleep data is also stored along with your activity data.
