Import and merge tcx files from fitbit and endomondo to track bike?

Hi!

Since the app only lets me track "walk", "run", and "hike", and I want to track "bike"... But the autotracking of the app doesn't enable GPS on my cell phone... I want to track biking with Endomondo. But Endomondo doesn't get the fitbit heartrate. The fitbit autotrack gets it.

So now I have a nice geo track on Endomondo (exportable as a TCX file)... and an auto track on the app, with heartrate and no geo data. When I export this file, I get an almost empty TCX file that I can't import in Endomondo.

So... question. How can I either properly track bicking in the app? (in addition to walk, run, hike, how do I specify bike, montainbike...) Or how do I merge both the fitbit and the Endomondo tracks into one complete one?

Thanks in advance,

Gilles.

Hey @gravax is great so see you here on the Community! Your inquiry is very interesting.

I recommend to Manually Log Bike Activity, because if you are doing an activity that does not require steps (like cycling or using an elliptical machine), or an activity that requires more than just steps (like tennis or yoga), logging the activity manually improves the accuracy of this activity's contribution to your caloric burn.

To log your activity follow this steps:

1. On the Fitbit app dashboard tap the Exercise tile to open your exercise history. This is the tile that says "Track exercise" if you haven't worked out today. If you've already worked out, you'll see the exercise category on the tile instead (for example, Run or Hike).
2. Tap the stopwatch icon in the top right corner and Tap Log Previous.
3. Adjust the activity details and tap Log It.

Also, in addition, let me share This Page where you'll find the list of partner integration, this are a 3rd party apps or website that shares data with Fitbit using our API. Partner Integrations provide additional features and benefits to our users.

I hope this helps and thanks for sharing your feedback.

Hi @TarinFitbit. So I can see the merit of what you are proposing. But some questions :

1) If I've already worked out (and it recognized my activity - which it does for outdoor biking) it hasn't turned on the GPS so the track isn't on the map. -> NOT THE SOLUTION I WANT

2) If I haven't already worked out, but I'm about to, YES, I know how to start tracking an activity. The question, then is what category do I use if I'm about to bike. As you've seen in my post, I'm limited by the fact that it proposes only "WALK", "RUN", "HIKE". Which of these is more compatible with bike?

Thanks for taking the time,

Gilles

Those are good questions @gravax. You are correct on your first point, in order to track a map with the GPS, you need to use one of these: Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Blaze or use the MobileRun feature.

But I forgot to let you know about "The SmartTrack Feature". This feature automatically recognizes and records select exercises to ensure you get credit for your most active moments of the day.

Whenever you wear your tracker and participate in any continuous, high-movement activity of 15 minutes or more, your tracker will recognize and identify activities like "Walking, Running, Outdoor biking and Elliptical", it also recognizes two general categories:
- Sport: Includes high-movement sports like tennis, basketball, soccer, and others. Sports that might not be recognized include those without continuous movement or that vary in intensity level, like golf.
- Aerobic workout: Includes aerobic activities with continuous movement, such as Zumba, cardio kickboxing, and other dance classes.

Let me share with you This Video https://youtu.be/5RTKB9-1UFA about The SmartTrack Feature.

To use this feature, please take a look on this article "How do I use multisport or exercise mode on my tracker?

And I found this information about Edomondo Smiley Wink:

- Your data will sync between Fitbit and Endomondo
- Your workouts logged on Endomondo will be displayed on Fitbit
- Steps, distance, and sleep will sync from Fitbit to Endomondo
What syncs?

- Fitbit > give > Steps > to > Endomondo
- Fitbit > give > Distance > to >Endomondo
- Fitbit > give > Sleep > to > Endomondo
- Endomondo > give > Activities (workouts) > to > Fitbit

To properly connect Endomondo with your Fitbit app, click on this link: Endomondo and Fitbit accounts

Let me know if this helps, I'll be aware!
