My Fitbit Ionic stopped syncing to my Samsung Galaxy 8 phone a few weeks ago. It has been buggy for a long time, often taking several goes to sync, not syncing all data measures, etc.
However this time it stopped altogether. I followed all the advice - restarting the device, resetting my phone bluetooth, reinstalling the app, unpairing the device. Then it wouldn't pair again in repeated attempts over 10 days.
I did a factory reset (losing 14 days of data) and it still wouldn't pair. I attempted to pair to my Galaxy and an iPhone from work but it failed every time. Eventually I got it paired to the iPhone, and it seemed to display data through the Android app. Now the Android app displays as paired, but it says it can't find the tracker and won't sync. The connection also dropped out when trying to install the latest firmware update.
This is very frustrating.
How can you fix this problem?

Hello @four067, welcome to the Community Forums!
I appreciate all the information and details that were shared in your post, thanks for your effort and patience troubleshooting your Ionic device prior to posting too, I totally understand how frustrating this situation can be for you. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check how the syncing procedure works here and see if there's a missing requirement on your Samsung Galaxy S8 that's preventing the syncing procedure to be completed.
Then, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes.
Keep me posted, I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your reply. I have been through the linked articles, and adjusted the permissions on my Samsung phone. It appears to be syncing more often than previously, but it's still hit and miss. Today, for example it isn't finding the device at all. Other days it would sync steps after several tries, but not sleep or active minutes.
It is frustrating. I have used Fitbit devices for six years straight, but at this stage I wouldn't recommend the Ionic to anyone.
