Is it possible to have Charge 3 and Charge 4 on the Fitbit app?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello All,

I have been using my Fitbit Charge 3 on my Fitbit Android app since 2 years. Recently, I upgraded to Fitbit Charge 4 and also want to continue to use Charge  3 as a back up device.

However, app is asking me to "Switch To Charge 4", thereby completing removing Charge 3 as a device option.

When re - attempting to add back Charge 3, it states "Switch to Charge 3", meaning the new Charge 4 will be removed and only I can use Charge 3.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I want to use both my devices, from time to time basis.

Regards and Cheers,

Arun

Hi @ArunNair2021  you can have one or the other on your account at one time. The only workaround is to sync and then remove the first device. Add the current device as a new on an existing account. When you want to swap, you do the same thing. It's the only way to have it work.

Thanks @Odyssey13 .... Unfortunately, that is not the solution I am looking for.

Previously, I have both Charge 3 and Charge 2 (My First Fitbit), both of them as available devices.

Once could just switch and sync, as and when the battery of the device went down.

Now, the hassle is to pair the device everytime and the old device is simply "SWITCHED OVER" - In my language, old device cannot be used, till paired again.

I don't find this logical or customer friendly.

Yes Dear.... I referred to it earlier today and nothing seemed to help.

I just cant seem to have the 2nd device configured on my Fitbit App.

And hence, thought of referring with the tech experts, as Fitbit claims it is possible to have multiple devices, although only 1 active device can be used at any point of time.

As I stated earlier, even I was able to use my Charge 2 and Charge 3, in parallel via my app, from time to time basis.

Lets see how it goes

@Odyssey13 Thanks for your assistance on the thread.

@ArunNair2021 Hi there. Thanks for your feedback and comments, we're always striving to improve our services offered. As mentioned by our dear council @Odyssey13 you can't connect multiple devices that use the Fitbit App Gallery to one account. In this case, for Fitbit Charge 3 and Fitbit Charge 4, only one device can be paired at a time.

Find more information about it in this article: Can I use more than one Fitbit device with the same account?

Thank you both @Odyssey13 & also @SiliviaFitbit.

Just wanted to clarify that "I do not want to pair 2 devices at a time". I have been misinterpreted here.

What I want is to set up boith my Charge 4 and Charge 3 as "Device Options" on my Fitbit app. One will be the main device and other is a spare device.

Only 1 of them will be paired at any point of time.

I used to be able to do it before with Charge 2 and Charge 3, where they were used from time to time basis. I wouldnt claim about a feature which I was using seamlessly before but unable to use now. Fitbit can check my historical trends.

If someone can help, it will be great !

And thanks for your understanding.

@ArunNair2021  you can't do what you want. I'll copy what was in the article I linked above.

Note that you can't connect multiple devices that use the Fitbit App Gallery to one account. For Fitbit Charge 3, Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Inspire series, Fitbit Sense, and Fitbit Versa series, only connect one of these devices to your account at a time.

Okai... I totally understand that.

Which is why I am raising my concern here.

Older devices like Charge 2 and Charge 3 could coexist while the latest
device like Charge 4 cannot coexist with a Charge 3.

I feel like a demanted fool, having spent on a stupid Charge 4 promotion,
which was popping repeatedly for New Year Sale 2021.

I shouldn't have bought this one, in the first place. Also, sorry to say...
FitBit disappoints me on this one 🙏

I’m having the same issue! I just bought the charge 4. I currently use the 2 & 3 in my app. My charge 2 is giving up, so I just purchased the charge 4, figuring I could set it up. I knew you couldn’t have 2 of the same version, but I didn’t think I’d be having issues with 2 versions. This makes me angry! I just wasted a lot of money. Now what? Anyone have any fixes? Fitbit needs to fix this issue. I totally get what you are saying. Why can’t Fitbit get it?

Why? It seems to me if charge 2 and 3 work on the app together, then charge 3 and 4 should work. Whatever y’all have changed, you need to fix it. I’ve been with Fitbit for a very long time, but I’m getting frustrated. You never know what’s compatible until you buy it and try activating it. Someone, please fix this! It can’t be that hard. Two of the same version, I understand. However, 2 different versions, it should work.

I agree. Just activated my charge 4 and my charge 3 is gone from the app. I play ice hockey so my Fitbit is always at risk of damage and I tend to wear them out fast. I always used my older unit during games and switched back after. Worked since my first alta, charge HR and on. Now that option is gone. This really stinks. I am spending too much money replacing these things every 9 months and now I either wear my new one for hockey, or skip tracking my main form of exercise. Not happy at all

You can still use the 3, just not together. Yes, it’s a total pain and so inconvenient! You actually have to go through set up a device to switch back and forth. My 3 got smashed, now I use the 4 for working in. I got an Apple Watch for dressier wear. Fitbit will upload to the apps on Apple Watch, but Apple Watch will not download to the Fitbit app. It’s all just a money maker. I’m not wasting money on anymore Fitbit watches once the 4 breaks. I might just break out the old Timex to work in! Good luck.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @GSX and @Mfair4u.

@GSX I understand your frustration for not being able to have Charge 3 and charge 4 under the same account, but as @Odyssey13 mentioned a few months ago, Charge 3 and Charge 4 use the same Fitbit App Gallery and for that reason both devices can't be connected one account at the same time. This option is still possible for older devices like Alta HR, Charge 2, etc since they don't use the Fitbit App Gallery. For more details, you can check this help article: Can I use more than one Fitbit device with the same account?.

Hope this helps.

Am new to this old feed.  I have a Charge 3 thats screen is blank.  Have tried all the fixes.  Decided to get a Charge 4 because I have a lot of Charge 3 bands and they fit 4.  I also bought a new Charge 3 because it is dressier.  That one is still in the box and will be returned since I can't swap them out easily.
