I have set the diet plan to a 1000 cal deficit. It says my goal is to burn 2515 calories a day. I think it thinks i want to maintain ,my weight. Its giving me too many calories to eat that wouldnt add up to the deficite

The Fitbit Alta itself will not take into consideration that you have a 1000 calorie deficit. The Alta will only show how many calories you have burned.

As for the Dashboard itself, it will calculate how many calories you burn, based on your previous days, so that you get an idea of how much you burn so that you can better plan out your day. The best way to go about it is to take that number into consideration and be sure that you consume 1000 calories less than you regularly burn.

Additionally, I'd recommend that you check this thread about the way the Food Plan works.

I hope you find this useful! Let me know if you have any further questions.
