Issues with Sync, GPS and duplicate exercises

I have a Charge 2 and an Android phone running Android 8.1 with Fitbit App only recently installed.

I seem to several issues, which I suspect might be related.

  1. Despite sync being configured for All Day and Always Connected, I often find the that the last sync was hours or even a day past
  2. When I start recording an exercise session (walking) from the Charge 2 it often shows the symbol for the phone with a line through it, indicating it couldn't connect, though the Fitbit App might show that it has started recording
  3. If recording of a session starts correctly, it often drops out during the session
  4. After a session is complete, in the App you can see the results the route etc.  After a short while, I will get a second exercise session appear, that has the start time of the end of the session, and pretty much exactly the same details, but no map - this results in double the steps etc recorded.
  5. I regularly (once a da or more) get a message on the phone saying that I need to restart the phone for notifications to work

What's going on, at the moment it is getting pretty tedious trying to use the functionality and having to delete all the extra workout sessions.

Hi there @tomsimmons, good to see you are visiting the Fitbit Community. I owe you an apologie for the late response.

I saw your tracker is not syncing even when you have enable the option of All Day-Sync and Always Connected. for this I would recommend this help article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If your tracker is having a hard time to find GPS signal or it drops the signal while you are doing your exercise, this other article will tell you the reason why this might be happening: Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit device?

About the duplicate entry with no map, I have seen this behavior in a few scenarios, however there are no new details. Now this issue with the one you mentioned that is require and update I would like to recommend to reset the app.

Note that after the new update of the Fitbit app, the issue with restarting the notifications was addressed and should not continue happening.

So, logout from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. (This may vary depending of the Android device and the OS version) Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

See you around and If I got more information, I will let you know.
