Eventually next year I am going to have to get a new fitbit device. Now this is my question. I know some devices are compatible with certain android operating versions. So, my phone's last software or android version update was from an android 9 to a 10. Does this mean that it would work well with fitbit devices that require the phone to run on android 10 would be compatible with my phone even though originally it operated with at android 9?

@Newfitkitty it's not the devices that require a minimum Android version; it's the Fitbit app. You can learn about the requirements of the Fitbit app here. The Fitbit app currently requires Android 11 or higher. If you are successfully using Android 10, you probably have an older version of the Fitbit app. That's okay as long as you don't update or reinstall the app.
To answer your question, it doesn't matter if your phone started out with an earlier Android version. It just needs to be updated to a compatible version, which Android 10 is not. The last security update for Android 10 was in March 2023. That leaves your phone vulnerable to security risks. Be careful out there.

thanks. Sadly Lg hasn't had anything to do with any of their phones since like I guess 2021 and that was the last software update. I can't really afford a new phone right now. I have a better chance of affording a new fitbit watch.

@Newfitkitty You don't need to upgrade to this years's phone model. Phones are manufactured with known or predicted upgrade capability. Last year's model at a good price will still have years of good use. I strongly agree with @alexthecat. Android 10 is no longer supported and doesn't receive security updates. In addition, you will need a new phone to setup a future new Fitbit.

I am not the type to get big fancy pricy things especially when I am on disability and unable to work. I will just have to make due until I can save up just enough. What sucks is having to switch phone service to new phone. Lol Last time I had to do that myself and the guy had to repeat himself many times because his accent was so hard to understand.

Hi @Newfitkitty - if your watch and phone are currently working you don't need do anything to either, as long as you don't uninstall the Fitbit app,
If you do uninstall the app you won't be able to reinstall it unless you have an Android 11 phone.
If you decide to buy a more recent smart watch you will need someone with a more recent phone to set it up before you use it on your current phone and Fitbit app.
