Just got my Fitbit Flex 2 can't set it up

Bought a flex 2 yesterday and I'm so frustrated I'm ready to return it.  All kinds of hassles getting it to work with my Android phone.  Doesn't work at all with my older computer.  

Tried it for the first time today - results:

1. clicked on "log" exercise and did a 3 mile walk. It recorded that fine.  Then I clicked Finish.  Got in my car and when I got home it tells me the whole thing was a walk.  

2. Tried to see what exercise I've done for the day.  Shows nothing even though I walked 3 miles.

3. Went to the pool and swam 20 laps.  I had set up the swim setting for yard length.  Zero credit for any of that - like I never even did it.

It's been nothing but a source of frustration so far.  Can anybody advise me?

Flex 2 and Charge 2 are not the same thing.
