Rather than 'when', perhaps the question you should be asking is, 'will a mini keyboard ever be available?'  And the answer would be, 'nobody here knows.'

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

@LL22 according to this article there is a third party app that you can download to get a keyboard on a Sense or Versa series smartwatch. I don't know anything about it, so I can't make a recommendation regarding it. It might do what you're looking for though.

What the article linked by @alexthecat fails to mention is that the keyboard is part of a very specific application for note taking, it's not a keyboard that is universal in all apps. And this can't be done because of the limitations by Fitbit OS or, at least, by the SDK made available by Fitbit.
