The low battery notification only comes after the Fitbit server is told about the low battery.. This happens during a sync. Normally a late low battery notice is caused by a failure to sync.

Most of the Fitbit trackers have a battery meter right on the tracker, so yes a simply glance at the arm will give you the battery level.
Yes all day sync does work, but if there is a problem it will not try a second time and waits for the next scheduled sync.

I have a similar issue that I often get the low battery warning for my Charge 3 after is too late. Can I set the charge level at which the low battery warning is sent? My device just generated a warning email about 45 minutes ago and it is now reading 11%. Certain functions appear to stop working after the charge gets below 10%, so really this is just giving me a 1% or 2% warning, which is not much better than no warning. Can I adjust the settings somewhere so I can get the warning at 20% or 25%?

@AdvisorK Hi there. Thanks for the details mentioned.
I'd like you to make sure your Charge 3 is always syncing or syncs at least once a day, this to ensure you get the alerts on time. If you'd like that this battery alerts could be customized, post your idea in our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will change depending on Fitbit plans.
Have a nice day.

Thanks for the link to syncing information that included the following:
"Data automatically syncs to the Fitbit app throughout the day. Each time you open the Fitbit app, your device syncs automatically when it's nearby."
Are these two separate thoughts or are they saying the same thing? That is, does the app synch throughout the day, or does it only synch when you open the app? Are you saying I need to check the app to synch to the device to cause the app to generate an email to tell me my device battery is low?

As long as your Fitbit app has permission to run in the background, my understanding is that the Fitbit app will try to sync once every 20 minutes. I Believe it is 20 minutes.
If this sync fails, the app will not try again do another 20 minutes.
Any time the app is opened, you will notice attge too of the screen, the ap initiates a sync.
As for the low battery notification. This comes after the first sync after the tracker battery drops below 25-30 %. The key is that the Fitbit server in the cloud sends out this notification. The tracker first has to tell the server, through a sync, the level of the battery
