Location has to be enabled to sync Charge with phone!

I just purchased a new phone and when I tried to sync my Fitbit Charge, it wanted my location! Unfortunately, this will not be happening. I have removed the app from my phone and once my old Fitbit stops working I will not be purchasing another unless Fitbit is able to change their app where it is not required. The band is gone from my Charge and I had planned on buying another one. I guess I will have to look for other trackers that don't require location on. So sad!!Smiley Sad

I believe that is a requirement of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and above that Fitbit has to live with, or at least has not figured a way around. I don't know if also affects other brands' similar trackers.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I rarely have location turned on my phone and since syncing was done previously without having it turned on, I am sure it could be done again. Not worth it. I will sync once a day, if I sync at all. Once my Fitbit is dead, i am done with it. I haven't checked the other fitness trackers yet. Phones can also track steps. I will check that out. If they are all trying to track location, i will be going back to a pedometer.
