Log Previous not counting calories correctly

So I find that when you track a work-out session from the start (either when you start tracking manually or when the device detects it), it faithfully counts my calories burnt based on my heart rate, but sometimes when I was working out and the device didn't detect that I was working out, so after the workout, I decided to log this session manually using the "log previous" feature. You would think that it would calculate the calories burnt based on my heart rate history for the time of the workout, but it doesn't. It just gives a general number (specifically 128 for 45 min of workout). Is this expected behaviour?

To provide more information, if I click into a workout not tracked from the start but logged with "log previous", the heart rate history is recorded faithfully, but the calories burnt chart is just a flat line, which does not match the heart rate history at all. I would show a screenshot, but I don't have permission to upload an image.
