I had the Fitbit app on my Android phone using a Fitbit account with no probs. Then, I moved over to my Google account and my troubles started - I can no longer log into the Fitbit account using my phone. There is no option to "Log in with Google" or whatever it's supposed to say - just boxes for an email and password.
When I try to get to the dashboard using the web interface, using the Fitbit account creds does NOT let me in - I have to log in using my Google account. I also installed the app on my Android tablet, with the same results as the web interface. Note that there IS the option to "Log in with Google" on my Android tablet, but there is NO such option on my phone.

I chatted with tech support this morning regarding this, and they suggested:

  • force quitting the Fitbit app on the phone - I had already done that, no joy.
  • I had already restarted the phone too - no joy there either
  • I also tried uninstalling/re-installing the app --. Anybody want to guess at the success that had?
  • I also have the same result if I use the Fitbit account PW I had initially established, or my Google PW.

Here's the real kicker - if I hit "Forgot your password", it tells me it will send me an email with instructions for recovery. The email never comes in.

Help??

What version of the Fitbit app are you running on you phone?

What phone are you using, and what is the Android version?  The newer Fitbit apps require Android version 9 or higher.

Thanks for your response. I don't really know the Fitbit Version, since I can't get the app to run past the log-in screen. I suspect it's the same as running on my Galaxy Tab A8 T tablet, but they seem to have the version number hidden deep, and I can't find it.

The phone is an LG. My Android Version is 8.1.0. As I indicated, it does run on my tablet, which is running Version 13, so that may be my problem.

The thing is - I just got the watch about a month ago, and it ran fine using the Fitbit account, until I did the "switch to google" thing that it insisted that I do. When I started having issues, I uninstalled/re-installed the app. Do you know if they updated the app  in the last month?

Again, thanks

Android version 8.1.0 is an older version and you won't be able to update to the newer Fitbit versions, so the ability to login to the app using your Google account isn't possible.  The newer versions have a Sign in with Google option.

Yeah - I just saw they updated versions on 10/25. Trying to log-in using the Fitbit account doesn't work either. I guess I'm screwed. What a **ahem**.

Any idea if I can get an older version anymore? Really dissatisfied about this

Thanks

Sorry I couldn't help you with your phone issue, but are you able to sync with your tablet?

I had been, but it seems to be failing to do that now. It hasn't synched for 6 hours as if this point, and I can't even get them to see each other.

I really wish I had gotten something else. Gong from a dissatisfied customer to a pissed off customer.
