Today like every day I got on my treadmill (desk) and worked while I walked. Did 53 minutes at 3.4mph for a total of 3 miles. I recorded it as "treadmill walk," which is a new category. There used to be a "treadmill manual entry," but that's gone.
My Fitbit app recorded the 53 minutes but only 3,846 steps - likely what it sensed from my wrist. But I was working, not swinging my arms the whole time. I trust the treadmill's distance measurement, but the Fitbit app seems to be ignoring it. (distance is listed as "optional" when you record the activity.)
Is this the new normal, or is it a bug?
If it's the new normal, what's the point of bothering to tell Fitbit what I'm doing if it's just going to make its own assumptions and ignore my input?
I have a Fitbit Charge 2. It has worked perfectly until today. If the Fitbit is broken I'd happily get a new one, but this seems to be an app issue.

Hi, @Curlyhair, Welcome to the community. For the sake of clarity, can you confirm that you tried manually recording your Treadmill Walk via the Fitbit app using this process - On the Fitbit vapp "Today" screen> Exercise days>+Add Exercise (the floating button in the bottom right)>Log activity>swipe up to treadmill walk>where you can add the time/distance/Energy burned. I'm on Fitbit app version 4.53(1103820364) if you have an earlier SW version, go to the Play Store & update the app.
Let us know how you get on by posting here again.
Cheers

Yes, @Gr4ndp4, I'm still stuck. Did another treadmill walk and the step count was way below where it should have been. 🙁
Thanks,
Curlyhair

I too am having the same issue with manually recorded treadmill walks.
I'm at my desk so I can't swing my arms most of the time. This started about 2 weeks ago.
The only work around I found was coating my cache and storage for the app. Then I have to login and I get the old "treadmill manual log". This lasts for about a day or so and then I'm prompted by Fitbit about a new experience.

Hi, @Curlyhair, I think your best way forward is to talk to Customer Support. In your Fitbit app, touch your icon in the top right of the "Today" screen>help>helpcentre>swipe up to the bottom> contact us. Complete steps 1 & 2 to reach contact options, where you should find a chat or phone link.
I hope this helps.
Cheers
