When I go to share my bike ride with others the map zooms all the way out to world view so people can't see my route, how do I fix this?

I've been out for my 3rd run in 4 days and none of them have tracked properly. One missed a huge chunk and reported 0.3 miles on the map, the other 2 measured at 0.3 and 0.7 (way under the 3-4 miles I've been doing) and no mapped data at all.

@BenDel00 yes this is an ongoing documented issue. As a work around take a screen shot and share that. Press share and choose the screen shot.

Do you have a map displayed @Yanz?

Did you use the auto detect to record the run?

  • I've decided to request help, recently when I'm tracking a hike or walk the data recorded on the map is incorrect on various occasions! It's adding in lines on the on my route that I haven't taken!! It's randomly adding angled route lines that I have not walked!! The completed route looks like someone has taken a pen and scribbled zig zag lines, this is becoming a regular problem and taking away all my enthusiasm for walking ... what on earth is happening?  I've been using this since 2015 and it's getting very unreliable I'm on my 4th fit bit Charge ... why has this started to happen over the past few months?

The map disk hays and zooms in on my start location, then when I hit start it goes to the distance /time screen but nothing happens. Just stays on 0.0 miles. I ignored it and Finaghy my run tonight , it eventually moved to 0.1m but the tracking on the map has basically totally missed my run and only got the few feet at the beginning and end.

I'm thinking about uninstall fitbit and re-installing it as I can't find anything out can be other than a glitch in the app.

  • Did you get any success after reloading the App? I've now been having a similar issue so probably need to take similar actionaction. I'm attaching a screen capture to illustrate just how annoying this issue is. And it started happening a couple of months ago ... you can see in the capture where it's adding random lines zig zag random route actual route on second picture .. I'm hoping too that Fitbit Support will at some point interject to advise on this issue I'm losing confidence in the product this is not good for ones health my stats are unacceptable! Screenshot_2020-05-13-09-05-53.jpg

should be similar to this ... my typical route...

We've checked our tools and confirmed that a Flex 2 is connected to the
e-mail address that you provided, and its last sync was on May 12th. We've
also noticed that the last exercise that has distance was a run exercise on
May 9th.

With that being said, we'd like to share with you that Fitbit devices
calculate distance based on the device’s accelerometer data and stride
length setting. Default stride length is based on your height and gender.
When you sync your device, our algorithm interprets the data from the
device, and you'll see the distance traveled in the Fitbit app.

You can check more information as to how Fitbit devices' accuracy here:
https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1136.

We also suggest that you refresh the tracker by following these steps:

1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or a
UL-certified USB wall charger.
2. Remove the pebble from the wristband and press it into the
compartment on the charging cable. The pins on the charging cable must
align with the corresponding pins on the back of the pebble to lock
securely in place. You’ll know the connection is secure when the pebble
vibrates and you see the indicator lights blinking.
3. Find the button on the charging cable below the tracker compartment.
4. Press it three times within five seconds. The tracker vibrates each
time you press the button. A few seconds after the third press, all the
lights will flash simultaneously. This means the pebble has restarted. If
you miss the light flash but notice the pebble has resumed charging, that
too is confirmation that the restart was successful.
5. Remove the pebble from the charging cable and insert it back into the
wristband.

We look forward to getting you back on track. Feel free to reach out if you
have other concerns.

Sincerely,

Jorian G. and the Fitbit Team

I haven't been out since the re-install of the app last night. I shall go out for a short distance this afternoon to see if it tracks properly this time.
