I was using Fitbit consistently this year, even took a screen shot in one month where I was particularly proud to see how many exercise days I logged in dreary months like February. Got a new phone last weekend and I understand I'm missing a week or two because because I forgot to give permission for blutoooth syncing until just now which is fine, I'll miss weeks here and there from misplacing watch or charging dongle. But when I go back to February for example, it's all grayed out except some random days will show a heartbeat range and/or sleep hours and nothing else!

@Zellybeanz Welcome to the forums. Thanks for reaching out about your exercise data on the Fitbit app. I appreciate the explanation.
Please note that your information is stored in our servers. It may be that the data is not loading correctly on the Fitbit app. Please make sure that the app is up to date. Try logging out and then back in. That way everything will be loaded onto the app again.
I also recommend checking the Fitbit.com Website. Log in and then click on this link: https://www.fitbit.com/activities. This way we can confirm if this is related to the account or the Fitbit app only. Thanks in advance.

Looks like the switch to Google was part of if it too. I used to just give permission to sync the watch with the new phone and maybe had to log in to Fitbit app again first but now there's extra permission steps for Google. When I got this new phone, all the apps and their local data came over from the Samsung/Verizon transfer process and I logged into my Google account immediately as part of the phone's setup flow and I know I said yes in the Fitbit app to syncing watch to phone somewhere in the middle of all the security updates and rebooting phone to troubleshoot things, but I think I hadn't actually given Google full permission to connect to the cloud yet until yesterday so I was just seeing local data? I did close the app and reopen but it seemed like it just needed time to download the server data. When logging into the website through Google it doesn't show the old Fitbit device or its data from 2016 or so but I don't need that anyway and it's probably because I haven't given Google permission for that one.

@Zellybeanz Thanks for the reply and explanation. I am glad to read everything is sorted out now. This will surely help other users out too.
Regarding your 2016 data, is it possible that you had another email address or Fitbit account? That is a possibility. However, I am glad that you have your data on the Fitbit app now. Wishing you a lot of fun with Fitbit. Happy stepping!
