Moved to Google, can no longer access children or other parent

My entire family all have fitbits.

There are fitbits like the Ace just for kids, which they have.

After being constantly prompted and promised that it would be quick and easy, I moved my family to Google.

Now it's almost impossible to access their accounts.

  • I cannot switch to their accounts on my own device to sync them because i get a message that says child accounts can not be on the same device with an adult because "things get mixed up"
  • They cannot put the account on the devices THEY use, because (A) their are other accounts on their too, and (B) they are older hand-me-down phones and the older version of the Fitbit app they can get from the playstore doesn't have Google login as an option.
  • Also we couldn't use the family-name domain we pay for because it required Gmail and not workplace to log into fitbit
  • Also after moving to Google my wife is no longer listed as a guardian or even in the family in my Fitbit account, even though she is a parent in our Google family. She is still my "friend" on Fitbit, but no option to make her a guardian or family member

Our entire family bought fitbits years ago to stay healthy and connected and now we are completely disconnected.

Thanks a lot, Google.

Hi @Ringthief - thanks for highlighting the disadvantages of switching to a Google account, it may help others to be aware of the problems. However it will be a requirement in 2025.
