Moving to logging in with a gmail account in a corp enviroment

We use fitbits at work because it is a very loud environment and they help the user know when someone is calling them.  But we only our phones are wifi only ones.  So they don't have an actually cell phone number.  With fitbit now requiring you have a Gmail account and gmail requiring you to have a cell phone number to verify your account.  This has caused a problem for us.  Also because you can only seem to use a cell number one time.  Is there any way around this or a different setup for a corp environment?  Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @mlecy.  To start, I'm not an expert on this.  I'm not even sure I completely understand your corporate setup.  Users don't need cell phones, because we can use a tablet as long as it has internet access.  The way I understand it, you might have a bigger problem.  Users need a Personal Google account.  Do you have individual accounts or Workspace accounts?  How do you log in to Fitbit now?

@LZeeW Sorry I might not have explained it very well.  Right now they are using fitbit accounts.  But Google is saying soon you will not be able to go login to you fitbit account with that account.  You need to have a google account.  So I was using that person work email account to be the google account.  As part of that setup it will send you a code to the email account.  But starting a couple months ago now when you do that setup.  You also have to put in a cell phone number and they send you a code to the phone also.  If you try to use the same phone number again it say sorry that number has already been used.  Our cell phones at work that has the fitbit app on it don't have sim cards in them so they don't have an actual phone number just an extension on our phone system.  So the code can't be sent to that.

Hopefully that explains things better.

Hi @mlecy - Google migration requires a phone number but they impose a limit on the number of accounts.

This blockage was raised with Fitbit support who have been unable to resolve it, meaning you can't migrate because Google blocks you doing so.

Yes that is what I have been running into and was trying to see if anyone knew of a way around it or another option.

@mlecy - Google/Fitbit require migration of Fitbit accounts to Google accounts but their setup simply does not permit it because of the phone number limitation.

Fitbit support doesn't have a solution and I have not found one either so like you am also blocked.

@mlecy   Your explanation helps a lot.  Sorry, but there is no workaround for your setup.  Each user must have a Personal Google account.

@LZeeW That is the issue I am running into is I am trying to do that but with the phone not having a sim card and an actual phone number so the verification code can be texted to it.  I can't set them up with a Google account.
