Multiple Fitbits will not reliably sync

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My wife has a Fitbit Alta HR & Fitbit Ionic on the one Android account on her phone. The phone is a Samsung S7 and the fitbit app, Alta HR & Ionic all are running the latest versions.

My wife wears one or the other fitbit depending on what she is doing.

The problem we have is syncing both units on her phone is a real pain. Sometimes it will work but most often only one will (usually the Alta HR). To get them both to sync involves rebooting the ionic & the phone and then it is not always successful. Both have all day sync turned on and she leaves them both by the phone when they are not in use.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this as it is very frustrating.

Regards

Murray

I used multiple trackers on one account for quite awhile with no issues....but to get them to sync reliably you have to only have one within range of the phone at a time, if both are on and in range of the phone you'll have the issues you're experiencing.

Just be sure you're wife turns one off before turning the other one on, and only sync one at a time. When she's going to switch trackers, have her sync the one she's wearing, then turn it off and turn the other one on. It's very important to sync a tracker before turning it off and switching to the other or you can lose your data.

It sounds like a bit of a pain, but it's not bad when you get used to it. That method is what Fitbit recommends, that's why I used it and it works well.

I do have to add though that Fitbit also recommends not using the Ionic with other trackers.... it seems to have syncing issues when sharing the app 😟

You can try the method I recommended first though, and if it doesn't work your wife might have to remove the Alta 😞
