My Fitbit app in Android will not login to my google account - get a "something went wrong" screen

My sense2 that I've had for more than a year was not syncing with my phone this morning.  I rebooted my watch.  I rebooted my phone.  I uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app.  Now I can't even get past the login screen.  When I try to select my google account on the login screen it just takes me to a blank white screen that says "something went wrong".  If I click the "sign in with Fitbit" button I get a sign in screen, but I don't want to create another account

Is anyone else now not receiving phone notifications through fitbit ?

Yes had to do it several times eventually got in then took another hour to
get phone to sync
