I don't see an update for my charge 3 ... it us logging steps, but the screen is blank. What should I do?

This seems to be a common issue. Usually, one of the following steps will get the screen working again:

restart the fitbit using this procedure: Help article: How do I restart my tracker?
change the clockface via the app. If this works then it's safe to change it back to what it was

This solution worked!!!! Plugged in then held for 8seconds....got a smiley face and I am good to go!
