I thought the app was supposed to be updated with a new look and new functionality mine updated the other day and my charge 3updated but everything looks the same to me

The new dashboard design is still being rolled out. As long as your app is up to date you are ready to receive it when it arrives. You don't need to do anything more other than wait for it.
