Newbie Question: phone and Charge 6 connected to Fitbit app is that OK?

ANSWERED

I just purchased a Charge 6 today and I am setting things up on the Fitbit app.

Prior to getting the Charge 6, I was using Google Fit on my Android phone to track my steps.

I installed the Fitbit app on my phone and it asked me to connect a device and I connected my Charge 6.  It also had a button to connect my phone so I connected my phone.  So right now I have two devices connected to the Fitbit app the Charge 6 and my phone.

Here is the question:  Since both devices are counting my steps, will the Fitbit app double count my steps?  Should I disconnect my phone or is it OK to have them both connected?

Thanks,

The intent is that it should not use steps from you phone when you are wearing your Fitbit.  But if don't wear Fitbit, then it should use the step count from your phone during that time and add them to your total.  I have seen some reports of people seeing huge unrealistic number of steps being added to their accounts, and in all cases I've asked about, they have had phone as a device, and that problem stopped when they removed phone as a device.  That should not have happened, apparently a bug in Fitbit's implementation.  I have no idea how common or it has been fixed.  So it is up to you.  It will not normally double your steps, and serves useful function if likely to take off tracker for lengths of time.  Just keep in mind if you ever do find yourself getting huge unrealistic number of steps added for no reason, consider removing phone as a device.

Fitbit has a term which I wish I could think of for phone counting your steps and giving you credit when not wearing tracker.
